I am so excited to start the school year! Welcome to Room 3, my name is Ms. Christy Koszela and I will be your child’s special education teacher. Mrs. Julie Davis is a para-professional in the classroom who will also be working with your child. I believe school should be a happy and fun filled time in your child’s life. I will provide a supportive, encouraging, and nurturing environment for your child. All children do not learn in the same way, therefore I incorporate a variety of teaching strategies that reach different learners through all the senses. Most important, I strive for your child to feel confident in his/her accomplishments. Here is some helpful information about my classroom procedures.

Snack- We will have snack every morning. First grade students have a late lunch this year which will help break up the long morning. Social skills, oral motor, and independence are also practiced/ enforced during snack. All A.M. kindergarten and 1st grade students should bring a healthy snack and drink every day.

Water Bottles- Our school does not have air-conditioning and it can become quite warm in the classroom. Students can bring water bottles or extra juice boxes to Ms. Christy’s class. This will help the students cool down and stay comfortable during the hot weather.

Show-and-Tell- Please do not send toys/ items from home unless specifically requested to. We will have show-and-tell on Friday’s. I will update you on this in my weekly newsletter. All students in Ms. Christy’s room are welcome to participate in show and tell.

Birthdays- In room 3 we love to celebrate birthdays! Please remember to include the children in room 3 when sharing birthday treats. There are 8 children in room 3.

Book Clubs- I send home book-club forms every month. This is a great way to get inexpensive books and promote reading at home.

Student Folders- Each student will bring home a class folder every night. Please check this folder daily. This folder will contain important information concerning school as well as homework.

Donations- I may ask for donations for special projects we do in our classroom. Your generosity is appreciated.

I look forward to a productive year full of learning and success for each child! Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions or concerns regarding your child.
